Study2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2- Timothy 3: 15- And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ListenProverbs 1:5 - A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
Revelation 1:3 - Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. ShareMatthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Acts 20: 35 - I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' |
Word of the weekYoke
Bible text "Come onto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and l will give you rest. Take my YOKE upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my YOKE is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11: 28- 30) Definition It is a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals, and attached to the plow or cart that they pull. Back in the good old days, in Central America where I grew up, we used to plow the fields with oxen, but those oxen needed to be tame and domesticated before they could go work on the fields. The taming was a dangerous and complicated task, because young oxen were strong and wild. Many people were injured in the process which could also take a few weeks to be completed. I was always afraid of having to deal with a taming of a pair of oxen myself. Fortunately when the time came I was blessed with an advice an old man gave me, it was actually his secret, he told me; "Pair up a young ox with an old one, this way the young will not be free to go wild, plus it will learn faster of the old and experienced one" Bingo! I followed his advice and believe me things were much, much easier. I see that it is exactly what Jesus is inviting us to do, to pair up with him. We as humans are sometimes as tameless oxen, and that is why if we want to learn from the cream of the cream, the best of the best, we must accept Jesus' invitation to take his YOKE upon us. He even says that his YOKE is easy, and his burden is light. My friends, would you pair up with Jesus? I hope so. Your lives will be easier if you do. God bless you all. By. A. Merino. Edmonton, AB.
